Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: The city is set to get a new 2.3-km six-lane road aimed at improving connectivity to Patia and easing traffic movement in one of the capital's rapidly developing areas.
Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Chairman Krushna Chandra Mahapatra laid the foundation stone for the project on Friday.
The proposed road will connect Guru Kelucharan Park with Patia Railway Station, creating a more direct route between the two important locations and improving access to the surrounding residential, commercial and institutional areas.
The new road is expected to provide an additional route for commuters and help reduce pressure on existing roads, particularly as traffic volumes continue to grow in the Patia area.
The project is also expected to improve connectivity to Patia Railway Station and make daily travel more convenient for residents, office-goers, students and other commuters using the corridor.
With Bhubaneswar expanding towards its northern areas, better road infrastructure is becoming increasingly important to support the city's growing population and economic activity.
The six-lane corridor is expected to strengthen the road network around Patia and support smoother movement of vehicles between key parts of the city.
The project marks another step towards improving urban mobility, road connectivity and traffic management in Bhubaneswar, with the new corridor expected to provide long-term benefits for residents and commuters.
