Bus Driver and Conductor’s Presence of Mind Saves 55-Year-Old Passenger; Bus Rushed Directly to Dr. D. Y. Patil Hospital, Pimpri

Pimpri 18th August: A bus driver and conductor turned saviours for a 55-year-old passenger after he suddenly fell ill while travelling on a PMPML bus. The prompt action taken by the PMPML staff ensured that the passenger received timely medical assistance, potentially saving his life.

According to the information available, on August 16, 2026, at around 6:50 am, a 55-year-old male resident of Chakan was travelling by bus from Pimpri to Chakan. When the bus reached near the gate of Dr. D. Y. Patil Arts, Commerce and Science College in Pimpri, the passenger suddenly complained of discomfort. He was sweating profusely and experiencing chest pain, and his condition appeared to be deteriorating.

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, the bus driver and conductor acted without wasting any time and, displaying remarkable presence of mind, drove the bus directly to the premises of Dr. D. Y. Patil Hospital. As the passenger was brought to the hospital during the medically critical ‘golden hour’, timely intervention helped prevent further complications.

Immediate Treatment Initiated

As soon as the bus reached the hospital, the staff immediately alerted the Emergency Department team. Doctors from the hospital’s emergency medical services promptly admitted the patient to the casualty department and initiated the necessary primary and emergency treatment without delay.

Patient’s Condition Stable

The patient is currently undergoing treatment at Dr. D. Y. Patil Hospital and his condition is stable, doctors said. The timely and sensitive response demonstrated by the bus driver and conductor has been widely appreciated.
